When a Shower Screen Can Be the Best Choice for Your Bathroom

A shower screen or glass door for a shower can be a great alternative to a standard curtain and may offer more benefits to your bathroom than you realise. Shower screens can be custom made or you can choose a standard fit for your bathroom, either for the shower stall or the bathtub enclosure. Note when it may be a good idea to choose a shower screen for your bathroom and why it can be so advantageous.

1. When the bathroom is somewhat dim

If your bathroom is somewhat dim because it doesn't have a window or get much natural light, adding a shower curtain can actually make the problem worse. A dark color on the curtain can absorb any light in the room and, in turn, the space looks darker. However, a glass shower screen will reflect any light in the room and actually make it look as bright as possible.

2. When your enclosure is oddly-shaped

Trying to fit a curtain around a shower stall that is in a corner or that is somewhat oversized can be difficult. Today, many homeowners are having shower enclosures built to their own specifications, but curtains may not fit that stall in the corner, the very wide shower area you have built along one wall, and so on. Rather than trying to fit two curtains or swing a curtain around a hexagon stall, choose a custom shower screen instead. This way you know it will fit your shower enclosure specifically and will work for your space.

3. When your home has very hard water

Trying to get hard water stains out of a shower curtain liner can be an impossibility, as stains often need to be dissolved and then scraped away. You may find that you're constantly replacing liners in your home if they have stains from mineral deposits. Instead, choose a shower screen. Some might have a special coating that resists water stains, and in any case, they are usually easier to clean with a simple squeegee, keeping them free of those unsightly marks and buildup.

4. When you know you change the décor often

Updating and changing the décor of a bathroom can make it seem modern and fresh, but it can also be expensive to swap out a shower curtain on a regular basis. A shower screen is neutral and goes with any décor, from traditional to modern, so choose one of these and then you can change other bathroom accessories, tile, paint color, and the like without having to always change the curtain.

Heart of Glass: Top Glass Tips and Tricks

Hi, my name is Cindy, and ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by glass in all its forms. I remember looking up at my grandmother’s cut glass chandelier and watching the light spill out onto the wall in a flash of colour. Once I grew up, I began to collect glass objects myself, and I had many glass features fitted around my home. I even started to attend a local glass blowing class so that I could learn some skills myself. I decided to start this blog to share my love of glass and to pass on some tips on how to install and maintain glass in your home.
